Office of the Professions Software QA Project Assistant for the Modernization Program
Office of Professions is engaged in a program modernization project to convert mainframe applications from an 40-year-old Unisys DMS-II mainframe system to a modern stand alone application that will support New York State Education resources that perform License and Permit requests for 56 professions. The project team is creating a New Professions System (NPS).Ìý
Responsibilities include:
Creation of Automation Scripts and execute them
Helping develop and maintain the application (using java, vue 3, and SQL)
Execute multiple phases of functional and non-functional testing to guarantee the quality of software releases from design to implementation.
Provide testing estimates and manage the testing schedule and activities.
Participating in the user stories review/ prioritization and ensuring traceability with the Business requirements
Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
Perform research and collaborate with a small team to aid in Quality assurance testing, Gather business requirements, participate in virtual and in-person meetings, participate in User acceptance testing.Ìý

- ÌýWrite automated and manual tests needed to ensure the operation and precision of new product features and overall system behavior (e.g., regression testing).
- ÌýExecute multiple phases of functional and non-functional testing to guarantee the quality of software releases from design to implementation.
- ÌýProvide testing estimates and manage the testing schedule and activities.
- ÌýEnsure software applications meet technical and functional requirements.
- ÌýReview user stories and confirm acceptance criteria support required test steps.
- ÌýExecute end-to-end testing validating data from source UI to target UI and testing the database hops in between.
- ÌýCreate detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
- Verifying and validating database records to duties.
Desired educational background;
Associates, Bachelor, or Master Degree aligned with business administration, business analytics or similar.
At least 20 hours to be applied throughout the work week Monday through Friday
Must report to location at least 30% of the time.
Flexibility to choose any hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
This is a paid internship: Associates and Undergraduate students will earn $16/hour, and Graduate students will earn $19/hour.
